An elegant buffalo horn necklace with a flamingo, that can be transformed into a brooch. The flamingo has been designed intricately with hand-carved lavender jade, with the neck, head and feet studded with a wide array of pink tourmalines diamonds set in black rhodium sterling silver. Delicately shaped black onyx as the beak, diamonds in the eyes set in 18K gold and beautiful accents of the flamingo in 18k gold brings this piece of art to life. The necklace is carved beautifully from buffalo horn, with five of the many loops studded with diamonds and pink tourmalines in black rhodium sterling silver.

The lavender jades originated in Myanmar and was hand carved in China. Although jadeite deposits are found throughout the world (Guatemala, Japan, Russia, and California), Burma remains the primary source of best jade, hidden in the mountains where geography, soil, and climate all come together to produce the finest. The sourcing of the Jade from Myanmar and carving it in China began in 1780’s with Emperor Qianlong, who extended China's jurisdiction into northern Burma, calling it the “Imperial Gem”. Jade was therefore used for the finest objects and cult figures and for grave furnishings for high-ranking members of the Imperial family.

The design entails the flamingo standing on a single leg leaning straight ready to play and fish. Flamingos are also pink, which can be used to symbolize femininity and innocence, apart from depicting beauty, balance, and grace.

This piece took approximately 4 months to finish, with over 9 craftsmen and designers involved at various stages.
